I have been on this drug together with plaquenil for just over four weeks, with a decreasing dose of steroid which the consultant ideally wants to stop. For the past four days I have felt quite poorly with intermittent fairly painful joints. It feels like a have the flu and if I try to do anything have to sit down as I feel like fainting. I thought I would ring the hospital nurse tomorrow just to know that all is ok but would to know if this is quite normal and hopefully is just a passing phase.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Julia It's quite possible that the problems you are having are side effects of the drugs which may, with time, settle down. However, I think you are doing the right thing getting it checked just in case it's something else! The 'fainting' sensation, light headedness, could be caused by a drop in blood pressure but a nurse/doctor will be able to offer advice specific to you. Hope you start to feel better soon. Lyn x

Julia Julia, it could also be the drop in steroid. Can you put the steroid up a dose for a few days til you see the dr?

sudden drops in BP (especially in the afternoon if steroid is in the morning) and joints swelling again, feeling rough is something that happens when you are coming off steroid too fast for your body to cope.

Hi Jenny ( love those boots ! )
Many thanks for your advice, it is very tempting to go up a dose by 2.5 mg, and I wouldn t be surprised if it might do the job. I ll ring the nurse who works with the consultant who is lovely tomorrow I ll just carry on being very lazy today and my son Howard he s 18 ( there s just the two of us ) can walk my two pugs Eric and Phoebe !
Hope you are having a good day.

Hi Julia
Agree with both Lyn and Jenni - especially about the BP and coming off steroids too quickly. Glad to hear you are going to ring the nurse for some advice and help.
Take care
